DESIGN PROCESS

  • Phase 1: Brief | Preliminary Study

    • Based on Understanding the Market & Conditions, broadly define the primary scope and responsibilities resulting in a Project brief as well as appraise and report on the Project requirements.
    • Study Client’s brief, appraise and prepare report on brief with regard to the site, functional requirements, space norms, programme and costs in order to incorporate all Client’s requirements and integrate in the development of the Schematic Plans of all areas.
    • To research and investigate preliminary sources for finishes, fabrics, materials and decorative features, to develop design details and to endeavour (where necessary) selection of materials from available regional resources, specifying such materials in their planning and concept of the Interior Design.
    • Based on the outcome of this stage we are able to allocate & mobilize Project personnel and if required other resources.
    • Tonality & design direction is researched & interrogated in this early stage.
    • Mood Board creation & General Look & Feel Creation.

  • Phase 2: Spatial Design | Space Planning

    • Focuses upon the flow of people between multiple areas of interior and exterior environments and delivers value and understanding in spaces in various realms.
    • The emphasis of the discipline is upon working with people and space.
    • As a discipline it uses the language of various disciplines such as architecture, interior design and landscape architecture to communicate design intentions.
    • The Functional interaction within a space or an individual item.
    • We evaluate the way inhabitants relate to the environment & volume.
    • An Initial Concept Direction is formed during this Stage.

  • Phase 3: Concept Design

    • Use of 3D design as a tool to create a holistic end product underpinned by Sound Strategy ,Design Direction, Interrogation, interaction & Process.
    • Integration of Function & Form / Experiences & Visual Aesthetics
    • Lighting Design & other disciplines are investigated,
    • An ownable visual Language begins to form including Brand, Colour, Materials & Textures

  • Phase 4: ‘Kit of Parts’ Approach

    • If Required, this rationale can be adopted which has benefits such as Economy of Scales,
    • Adaptability
    • Flexible Material specification to allow cost savings without compromising on Aesthetics, quality control & Consistency

  • Phase 5: Design Refinement

    • Value engineering,
    • Further design interrogation,
    • Investigation of Production methodology & construction processes according to budget,
    • Final Rendering if necessary

  • Phase 6: Technical Documentation

    • Material specification
    • Design consistency
    • Allowing the client to obtain comparative quotations

  • Phase 7: Project Management

    • Quality control,
    • Consistency,
    • Scheduling / Co-ordination,
    • Ensuring design intent balanced with cost Management

Design Considerations

  • Flow

The functional interaction within the space or individual item.

  • Form

The way inhabitants relate to the environment and volume.

  • Lighting

The way an environment can be transformed through good lighting design.

  • Detail

The potential for an ownable visual language.

  • Colour

The way the brand comes alive without overpowering.

  • Materials

Familiarity and comfort whilst still exuding the values of the client.
